Eleanor Roosevelt models one of three gowns she would wear on inauguration day, 1941. All were purchased at the Arnold Constable store on 5th Avenue. The gown as fluid shoulders with petal sleeves, with outline decorations in seed pearls, and a sweeping train.
2/28/1940-New York: For a chilly Easter Sunday Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt (above) has selected from Arnold Constable in New York City this Bahma Blue wool costume ensemble. The long coat is finely embroidered with cording and novelette puffing from shoulder to waist, and is lined with print silk matching the tailored dress. The dress has three clusters of pleats in front and shirt waist top, buttoning up to the neck in the form of a jabot.
