UNITED KINGDOM - JULY 20: Bill Shankly (1913-1981) is considered to be one of the greatest football managers of all time. He started his footballing career in 1931, playing first for Carlisle United (1931) and then for Preston North End, and bringing seven caps to Scotland. After World War II he began managing clubs, including Carlisle United and Grimsby, going on to manage Liverpool FC between 1959-1974. During his time at Liverpool, he produced a highly successful side and laid the foundations for the club's golden era of success in the 1970s and 1980s, during which time the team won the European Cup (now known as the Champion�s League) four times.
