UNITED STATES - APRIL 12: This shows the Lunar Module and two astronauts on the lunar surface. It is one of a series of drawings issued by NASA before the first Moon landing to give an impression of an Apollo lunar landing mission. The Lunar Module was the part of the spacecraft that ferried two astronauts down to the Moon from lunar orbit during the Apollo manned Moon landing missions, before returning to rendezvous with the Command and Service Module. It first landed on the Moon on the Apollo 11 mission in July 1969, when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin Buzz Aldrin became the first men to set foot on the lunar surface.
