Flowers and tributes are seen on May 1, 2009 at a war monument in the street in the central city of Apeldoorn where a car crashed on April 30, killing five onlookers who were waiting to see the Dutch royal family on Queen's Day. The car driver, who had sought to ram the Dutch royal family, died from his injuries on May 1. The driver, identified in the Dutch press as Karst S, 38, had confessed to police that his action was aimed against the royal family, before being hospitalized with critical injuries. Eleven people remained injured in hospital on May 1. Note reads: "It should not have happened... We are thinking of you."
