KUTA, INDONESIA - AUGUST 31: A western tourist vistis the Jalan Monkey Forest in the Padangtegal village on August 31, 2008 at Ubud, Bali. Since the Bali terrorist bombings in Kuta in October 2002 and more recently in Jimbaran and Kuta in October 2005 by terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), tourism in the region has suffered greatly, but tourists are slowly coming back to the region following the US Department of State lifting their Travel Warning for Indonesia, which has been in effect since November 2000 following a terrorist attack on Jakarta. The ban, lifted as of May 2008, has been removed as a result of the improvements made by Indonesia to its current security situation. It is hoped the lifting of the ban will encourage businesspersons, tourists and scholars - especially from America - to visit Indonesia to help expand trade, tourism and education between the two countries.
