Bedouin women of all ages work in the atrium of the al-Hayah community cooperative in the El-Farafra Oasis, 460 kilometers southwest of Cairo, 03 September 2007. The center run by the Farafra Developmental Association provides training and assists twenty-five women at a time during six months, to maintain and promote Bedouin traditional handcrafts now threaten by cheap, machine-made imported products, encouraging production and helping them to market their goods at a fair price at the center, on the local market or at hotels.
