There are 13 such homes in the country out of which seven are located in Karachi. Established in 1947, Edhi Foundation is the biggest social welfare and a non-governmental organization in Pakistan. Working without any discrimination on the basis of colour, race, language, religion or politics, the Foundation provides social services such as medical care, emergency services, ambulances, burial services, mental habitats, orphanage, child welfare services, abused women safe houses and training facilities for the disadvantaged.
