Lieutenant Ellen E. Church was today proclaimed the "Worlds original air line stewardess" by United Airlines. She was the first stewardess employed by the airline in May, 1930 and she is credited with convincing officials that the nurses should be employed as stewardesses aboard Trans-Continental planes.
