(Original Caption) Christian Dior, well known French fashion designer and credited as the originator of the "New Look", arriving at New York International Airport (Idlewild) from London on a British Overseas Airways Corp Speedbird, March 5th 1950. Mr. Dior is here on a one month stay to design his American collection and to attend a ball of the Auxiliary of St. Joseph's Hospital at I. Magnin and Co. in San Francisco where he will show six new models on March 8th. When asked by reporters at the airport about the plunging neckline he said, "American men are more interested in necklines than any other men in the world."
