CENTRAL MOROCCO - APRIL 19: (ITALY OUT) Women pull water up from a well April 19, 2004 in Bni Meskine, central Morocco about an hour inland by car from Casablanca. Inhabitants of Bni Meskine (literally meaning "poor gentleman") live in the poorest region in Morocco, known only for farming Sardi sheep and the production of mint. Illiteracy rates are about 90 percent for women and 50 percent for men. Inhabitants live off of candle-light, without electricity and where running water exists only in a few houses abandoned by some French ex-colonizers. They travel on tracks of mud and dust and they learn to live next to snakes, scorpions and wild dogs. (Photo by Franco Origlia/Getty Images)
