There has been an annual gathering at Braemar, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, for over 900 years. The current gathering, in the form of a High land Games and run by the Braemar Royal High land Society (BRHS), takes place on the first Saturday in September and sees competitors in Running, Heavy Weigh ts, Solo Piping, Ligh t Field and Solo Dance watched by around 16000 spectators.
