Himeji Castle, one of the UNESCO World Heritage and Japan national treasure sites, has been under the final stage of full-scale restoration work since December 2009. It will be complete and open to public from March 27, 2015. The structural repairs are carried out using traditional techniques to its plaster walls, eaves and canopies of the upper levels that had been damaged or soiled since the last major restoration work completed in 1964. The history of the castle date back to mid of 14th century. In 1581, Hashiba Hideyoshi built three-storied castle, then Ikeda Terumasa, who become a new loard of Himeji Castle in 1600, started the reconstruction of the castle in 1601 and completed the whole castle complex like it is today in 1609.
