[UNVERIFIED CONTENT] Rock-cut dwellings on an exposed cliff in the city of Cavusin, Avanos, Nevsehir Province, Central Anatolia (Cappadocia), Turkey. The whole valley is honeycombed with rock-cut underground dwellings and churches from the Byzantine period. There are hundreds of old churches in the volcanic rock caves. These frescoed churches and dwellings easily carved into rock from the early years of Christianity are scattered all along the way in Cappadocia.
