Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill (C-R) and the Patriarch of Antioch and the whole East, Ignatius Hazim the IV (L), arrive to attend a religious service at the Maryamiyya Church in old town of Damascus on November 12, 2011. Kirill is on a four-day visit to Syria and Lebanon to visit Orthodox churches in the two countries. He would hold talks with President Bashar Assad and other Muslim and Christian clergymen. The Moscow Patriarchate said in a statement ahead of the visit that its hopeful that the visit will contribute to peace in these countries.
