Photographers wait as Alain Prost of France, driver of the #2 Marlboro McLaren-Honda MP4/5Honda RA109A V10 walks back to the pits after controversially colliding with his team mate Ayrton Senna during the Japanese Grand Prix on 22nd October 1989 at the Suzuka Circuit in Suzuka, Japan. The Japanese Grand Prix decided the 1989 Drivers' Championship in Prost's favour, after this collision at the final chicane put them both off the track. While Prost abandoned his stalled car, Senna restarted his, made a pit stop to change his damaged front wing, and drove on to take victory.
