A man holds up a mock cow painted in Germany's colors and an inscription "the fair milk" as farmers protest for higher milk prices on June 5, 2008 in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The farmers severely disrupted traffic with the blockade at the historic Gate that came a week into a standoff with dairy plants and supermarkets that has seen them pour milk into ditches. In a first victory for the farmers, discount retailer Lidl announced that it would increase the price of a litre of milk by 0.10 euros (0.15 dollars) to 0.71 euros from Monday.
