LENS, FRANCE: German supporters taunt French police 21 June shortly before the Germany-Yugoslavia World Cup soccer match in Lens. A French gendarme who was beaten up by German hooligans at the end of the match remained critically ill 22 June but hospital sources stated his condition as stable. Ninety-six hooligans, most of them German, were arrested in Lens on Sunday, and six were ordered to be deported today.
