BOMBAY, INDIA: A statue of the elephant-headed Hindu god Lord Ganesh is mounted on a truck on its way to a display that will dominate every street corner in the port city of Bombay for the next 10 days. In 1893, when the masses were told to celebrate the birthday festival publicly, there were only three big idols, today there are over 40,000 of the statues, with a total estimated worth of over four million USD.
