YELWA, NIGERIA:  A bereaved indigene of Yelwa examines 21 May 2004 the number of people buried at the mass grave where over 600 victims of of ethnic and religious violence were buried. Calm has returned to Yelwa, but the war-torn north central town in Nigeria has remain deserted as indigenes have fled the town for fear of subsequent attacks following the imposition of state of emergency by President Obasanjo to check the rising ethnic and religious violence in the state.
