SOUTH SHIELDS, ENGLAND - JUNE 22: a musical performance celebrating the foghorn took place at Souter lighthouse on June 22, 2013 in South Shields, England. 'Foghorn Requiem' was written by Orlando Gough and was performed by three brass bands, an armada of ships positioned offshore and the Souter Lighthouse Foghorn. Conducted and controlled from shore the ships sounded their foghorns to the musical score, which takes into account the landscape and the physical distance of sound.
