DENVER ,CO--APRIL 28TH 2009--Ervin Schlepp, World War II Veteran, Navy, talks with Jonathan Cargil, U.S. Navy Petty Officer, 2nd class, at Signature Flight Support hanger Tuesday morning. 131 World War II Veterans were gathered at the Signature Flight Support hanger at Denver International Airport before their flight to Washington D.C. Tuesday morning. Honor Flight Northern Colorado raised funds for the two day trip to D.C. to honor and say "thank you" to the Vets. The veterans were greeted at DIA by honor guard, color guard, local law enforcement, military personal, a bag pipe band along with many well wishers. The Veterans will visit the World War II memorial, Iwo jima, Navy, Air Force, Service Women's, Pentagon 9/11, Korea and Vietnam Memorials. Honor Flight Northern Colorado is an affiliate of the National Honor Flight Network., HFNC is an all volunteer effort funded solely by donations.The group took 211 Veterans to Washington D.C. last year and plans for another trip for this September.
